Southend Pier and Railway
The train service in the Southend Pier and Railway is provided by two diesel trains, although it was once electrified. Every train has a diesel-hydraulic locomotive at the southern end and five trailer coaches end. The train runs every half-hour but sometimes, a two train service is operated with a 15-minute interval.

Its History
In 1830, the pier was built to employ a horse tramway. This pier was made with wood, and in 1890, it was reconstructed to an iron pier and was installed with an electric tramway that ran the full length by 1891. However, it was closed because it deteriorated in October 1978, and it reopened on May 2, 1986 with two new diesel trains.
